I must admit that I’m not a big fan of “Day of this… or day of that” (or so called toptopicals) being exploited by brands or companies on social media for different reasons. Often they make no relevant link with their brand, they don’t come up with something creative and just ‘abuse’ the day to say something but don’t really think it through.
Here’s an example of what I mean, and please do excuse Vente-Exclusive.com cause it’s an old one from years ago. However it’s the perfect post to clarify what you shouldn’t do. They are talking about Friday the 13th, they show a black cat and ask what you are going to do on Friday the 13th. Are you going to play lottery, or be extra careful or are you supersticious…. I think this post would have better suited the National Lottery but what is the link with an online webshop selling clothes?! Come on!
With the prejudice that only a few brands are good in making relevant & funny or inspiring content with these kind of topics I was really really curious about Back To The Future Day (which refers to the date October 21st, 2015, where Marty McFly and Doctor Emmett Brown travel to in the second movie of the Back to the Future trilogy).
So I did an online search for ‘Belgian’ Back To The Future Day-posts by brands & companies, and here’s what I found and liked. You see that they gave it some thought:
Supermarket Carrefour produced a movie to remind their customers that it’s forbidden to drive 88mph on their parking.
Okay I admit, their Photoshop skills aren’t great…but nice to see that our Police Team has humor by indicating that a chase wouldn’t work in this case 🙂
A lot of people were curious about which predictions would really come true in 2015. Well, KBC mentioned a prediction they missed in the movie > money withdrawal with your smartphone which KBC offers (and more banks should do)!
To be honest I was expecting to see more. But maybe I missed a lot, so feel free to share what you spotted, as long as it’s Belgian 😉
