CapCut vs. Edits vs. Premiere Pro: Which video editing app fits you best?

Social Media

Premiere Pro Mobile Adobe finally brings to your smartphone! But let’s be honest: the mobile video market is already packed with strong options like CapCut and Edits. We’re putting the free versions of these three apps side by side in terms of ease of use, features and performance. Let’s dive in! 🥽

Ease of use

The three apps are clear and easy to navigate. You definitely don’t need to be a video pro to get started.

CapCut is super fun for anyone who likes to experiment, because under every tool you’ll find lots of extra options and effects. But beware: it’s easy to get a bit lost, and many features are behind a paywall.

Edits and Premiere Pro Mobile are more minimalist. Fewer frills, making everything easier to find. Perfect if you want to put something together quickly.

Templates & Effects

CapCut: the king of templates. It syncs directly with TikTok and is full of ready-made formats based on trends. Plenty of filters and transitions to make your video social-ready. Unfortunately, many extras are behind a paywall.

Edits: no templates, but an inspiration tab full of examples and ideas for creating your own content.

Premiere Pro Mobile: no templates, but everything that exists is immediately usable. Less choice, but fully accessible.

Sound & Music

Sound completes your video and the apps handle it differently:

CapCut: a large selection of music and sound effects, but watch out for commercial rights.

Edits scores points with full access to the Instagram Music Library. Perfect for Reels trends. Note: you can’t use this music outside Instagram for commercial projects.

Premiere Pro Mobile lets you upload your own music or work via the Adobe library. When it comes to sound effects, CapCut and Edits have an edge: free access, while Premiere Pro requires an account. 🎶

Export & quality

Once your edit is ready, you want it to look good everywhere.

CapCut and Premiere Pro Mobile: lots of flexibility with aspect ratios. From 16:9 (YouTube) to 9:16 (Reels/TikTok). CapCut can also export as GIFs 👉 perfect for quick social snippets.

Edits: only downloadable in 9:16. Great for Reels and Stories, less suitable for other platforms.
